Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, has called on Mo and Mo Limited, the contractor working on the Mankessim Bypass project, to increase the pace of construction.

Mr Suhuyini made the call after inspecting the project on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. He expressed concern that progress on the project was behind schedule and urged the contractor to take steps to accelerate the work.

According to the Deputy Minister, the government expects the contractor to work with the regional representative to develop a programme that will help increase activity at the project site and return the construction schedule to track.

He, however, said the government remained confident in the contractor’s ability to improve the pace of work and meet the expectations for the project.

Mr Suhuyini also highlighted the technical planning involved in the design of the bypass, saying discussions with the project team showed that considerable thought had gone into the proposal.

The Deputy Minister said the government’s engagement with opinion leaders and other stakeholders in Mankessim had helped residents better understand the purpose of the project.

He said the government was encouraged by the level of support the project had received from the local community following those engagements.

The Mankessim Bypass is expected to improve movement within the area and provide a better travelling experience for motorists using the corridor.

Mr Suhuyini said the project is also connected to plans for the eventual dualisation of the road towards Mankessim.

He stressed that the project is intended to improve conditions for residents of Mankessim and surrounding communities while enhancing transportation along the corridor.
