The Ghana Education Service (GES) has denied reports circulating on social media that floodwaters destroyed some West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) papers, forcing affected candidates to rewrite their exams.
The viral statement claimed that heavy rains on June 29 washed away examination papers at some centres and that GES was preparing a new timetable for students who would be required to retake the affected papers.
Reacting to the claims, the Service described the statement as false and urged the public not to treat it as an official communication.
GES stressed that no such announcement had been made and advised students, parents and other stakeholders to ignore the misleading information circulating online.
The Service also encouraged the public to verify information before sharing it and reminded candidates that all updates regarding the ongoing WASSCE examinations would only be communicated through its official channels.
