Sachet water producers have clarified that the widely discussed GH¢15 price per bag is not a fixed nationwide rate but a maximum ceiling intended to guide the market. Industry leaders explained that retailers are not obligated to sell at that exact price and may charge lower depending on their operating costs and location, pushing back against public concerns over a uniform price hike.
The clarification follows growing anxiety over rising living costs, with producers attributing the adjustment to increased production expenses, particularly the cost of plastic materials influenced by global crude oil prices. They maintain that the price cap is meant to prevent excessive charges while allowing flexibility in the market, as consumers continue to grapple with affordability concerns.
