The Ghana Football Association has officially announced the departure of Otto Addo as head coach of the Black Stars, with the decision taking immediate effect.
In a statement released by the Association’s Communications Department, the GFA confirmed that it has mutually parted ways with the German-born Ghanaian coach, bringing his tenure with the senior national team to an end.
“The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours,” the statement read.
Otto Addo, who previously led Ghana to qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and later returned to the role, has been at the center of mixed reactions from fans and analysts over the team’s recent performances. Despite moments of promise, inconsistency in results and growing pressure from supporters appear to have influenced the Association’s decision.
The GFA also indicated that plans are already underway to restructure the technical direction of the national team. “The Ghana Football Association will communicate the new technical direction of the Black Stars in due course,” the statement added.
This development marks another significant change for the Black Stars as they continue preparations for upcoming international assignments, including World Cup qualifiers and other major competitions.
The focus now shifts to who will take over the reins and how quickly stability can be restored within the team, as Ghana aims to reclaim its status as one of Africa’s football powerhouses.
