Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply after Iran launched a wave of missile strikes targeting Israel, describing the attack as a response to the assassination of its senior security figures.
The overnight assault reportedly involved advanced missiles, including those equipped with multiple warheads designed to bypass defence systems. Some of the projectiles struck central parts of Israel, causing damage and resulting in civilian casualties, including deaths in the Ramat Gan area near Tel Aviv.

Iranian authorities said the strike was carried out as a direct response to the killing of key figures, including senior security officials targeted in earlier Israeli operations. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the barrage was meant as “revenge for the blood of martyr Dr. Ali Larijani and his companions.”

The escalation follows a series of Israeli air raids that reportedly eliminated high-ranking Iranian leaders, significantly intensifying the ongoing confrontation between the two countries.

Reports indicate that while some missiles were intercepted by Israel’s defence systems, others managed to penetrate and hit residential areas, highlighting the growing sophistication of the weapons being deployed in the conflict.

The exchange marks a dangerous turn in the broader regional crisis, which has already drawn in multiple actors and extended beyond the immediate borders of the two nations. Missile and drone activity linked to the conflict has also been reported in other parts of the Middle East, raising fears of a wider war.

As tensions continue to rise, the international community is increasingly concerned about the risk of further escalation, with calls mounting for restraint and diplomatic intervention.
