Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has left out Neymar from his latest squad for international friendlies against France and Croatia.
The squad, released by the Brazilian Football Confederation, is part of preparations toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be staged in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Ancelotti has instead named a strong and evolving squad, with a new generation of attackers leading the line. Vinícius Júnior, Raphinha and Gabriel Martinelli headline the attack, alongside rising talent Endrick, as Brazil continues to build for the future.
In midfield, experienced figures such as Casemiro and Fabinho provide stability, while captain Marquinhos leads the defence. Goalkeeping duties remain in safe hands with Alisson Becker and Ederson included in the squad.
However, the major talking point remains the absence of Neymar, who has reacted with disappointment after missing out on selection. The Santos FC forward admitted he was “upset and sad” but remains determined to fight for his place.
According to Neymar, “the focus remains day after day, training after training, game after game,” as he looks ahead to the final opportunity to impress before the World Cup squad is finalized.
The friendlies will serve as a crucial test for Brazil’s new-look attack and overall squad depth, while also shaping key decisions ahead of the tournament, with Neymar’s place in the team now facing increased uncertainty.
