The Chief Executive Officer of Charterhouse Productions, Theresa Oparebea Ayoade, has hinted at the possible return of the popular Ghanaian music reality show Stars of the Future, but this time with a focus on female artistes.
Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime’s Changes show, Mrs. Ayoade explained that the new version of the programme may be designed to support and promote female musicians in Ghana’s music industry.
According to her, the structure of the music industry sometimes makes it difficult for women to break through, which is why a women-focused edition of the show could help nurture and project more female talents. Stars of the Future, organised by Charterhouse Productions, was Ghana’s first musical competitive reality show and helped discover several well-known artistes including Efya and Irene Logan.
The programme went off air after its 2011 edition, leaving many young musicians without a major platform to showcase their talents.
However, Mrs. Ayoade believes bringing the show back in a women-only format could help address the challenges faced by female artistes in the industry and encourage more women to pursue careers in music.
She also noted that the production house has established the Charterhouse Africa Creative Foundation to help identify and address key challenges within the creative industry.
