The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has reassured Ghanaians that the government is closely monitoring developments and is committed to protecting nationals in potentially risky situations. His remarks come amid escalating military exchanges between Israel, Iran, and the United States, which have heightened concerns about the safety of foreign nationals in the region.

Highlighting the government’s proactive approach, Minister Ablakwa praised the staff of Ghana’s embassy in the United Arab Emirates for their swift action in supporting citizens, including the Black Queens women’s football team. The 25-player delegation, along with 16 officials, faced disruptions after airlines cancelled flights to and from affected areas. Embassy personnel stepped in to provide essential consular assistance, ensuring the team’s welfare and safety.

“Ghanaian lives are paramount. No citizen will be abandoned in harm’s way,” Minister Ablakwa said, commending embassy staff for their patriotism, courage, and professionalism. He emphasized that the government remains in constant contact with citizens and stands ready to respond to emergencies, providing guidance and support wherever needed.

The Minister’s statement reflects a broader commitment to citizen welfare, highlighting the importance of diplomacy in protecting Ghanaians abroad. As global tensions continue, Ghana’s embassies serve not only as administrative centres but as critical lifelines for nationals navigating uncertain and potentially dangerous situations.

Minister Ablakwa concluded by reaffirming the national pledge: “For God and Country,” reinforcing the government’s dedication to the safety and well-being of every Ghanaian overseas.
