Mary Janice Bawah, a graduate of the Department of Land Economy at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has distinguished herself at the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) after securing two major recognitions within the Valuation and Estate Surveying Division.
She was adjudged both the Overall Best Inductee and the Best Female Inductee during the Institution’s induction ceremony for newly qualified professionals. The event formed part of activities marking the 21st edition of Surveyors’ Week, which also featured the elevation of new Fellows.
In addition to emerging as the top inductee in her division, Bawah received the Surv. Dr. Mrs. Matilda Fiadzigbey Best Female Inductee Award, a recognition that highlights outstanding achievement throughout the rigorous professional certification process.
Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Land Economy from KNUST, she currently serves at the Estates Management Department of Ghana’s Parliamentary Service, where she is involved in managing public-sector property and estate-related operations.
Her journey toward professional qualification was shaped by mentorship from experienced practitioners, notably Surv. Timothy Anyidoho (FGhIS) and Surv. Kwasi Darko Asare (FGhIS), whose guidance contributed significantly to her accomplishment.
Reflecting on her achievement, Bawah described the recognition as both humbling and motivating, noting that the milestone represents years of dedication and continuous learning within the profession. She emphasised her commitment to contributing meaningfully to the surveying industry and supporting initiatives that promote professional excellence and ethical practice in estate management and valuation.
