The Ghana Cocoa Board has dismissed claims that it provided a GH¢12 million sponsorship package to the Ghana national football team.
In an official notice, the Board described the allegation as false and without merit. Reports circulating publicly had suggested that funds intended for cocoa farmers were redirected to support the national team. COCOBOD, however, insists that no such decision was taken and that no money meant for farmers has been used to finance football activities.
According to the Board, its operations remain fully focused on its core responsibility of supporting cocoa farmers and sustaining the cocoa industry. It emphasised that farmer payments, supply of agricultural inputs, extension services, and sector investment remain its top priorities.
The statement further stressed that COCOBOD has not entered into any sponsorship arrangement with the national football team and has not diverted resources for that purpose at any time. It described the claims as misleading and urged the public to disregard them.
The clarification comes at a time of increased public attention on how state institutions allocate resources. COCOBOD says it remains committed to transparency and accountability in its operations and will continue to communicate through its official channels to prevent misinformation.

The Board also reassured cocoa farmers across the country that their welfare remains central to its mandate and that funds allocated to the sector are protected.
