A homestel located near Fosua’s homes hostel at Ayeduase Newsite, KNUST was engulfed in flames this evening around 8:35 p.m., causing panic among residents as thick smoke and fire spread through the building.
The Ghana National Fire Service quickly responded to the scene and managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby homes. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, though some properties inside the homestel were damage. Residents in the area report that the fire may have been caused by a gas cylinder that was left on.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident and have advised the public to exercise caution when handling gas appliances to avoid similar accidents in the future. The swift response of the KNUST fire service ensured that what could have been a major disaster was quickly brought under control.
