Manchester United Make It Four in a Row with Win Over Tottenham

Manchester United continued their fine run of form with a convincing victory over Tottenham Hotspur, securing their fourth consecutive league win under interim manager, Michael Carrick.

The early kick-off at 12:30 pm UK time (GMT) lived up to expectations, delivering an entertaining contest. United started brightly, enjoying long spells of possession and creating several early chances as they looked to take control of the match.

The game’s turning point came in the 29th minute when Tottenham captain Cristian Romero was shown a straight red card for a reckless tackle on Casemiro’s ankle. The dismissal handed United a clear advantage heading into halftime.

United capitalised on their numerical superiority in the 38th minute, when Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring from a corner kick. The winger once again proved his knack for delivering in big matches. Although United dominated possession for much of the game, Spurs remained organised defensively and threatened occasionally on the counter-attack.

The Red Devils sealed the win in the 81st minute, as captain Bruno Fernandes doubled the lead after meeting a well-delivered cross from Diogo Dalot. The goal confirmed United’s dominance and ensured all three points at Old Trafford.

The victory marked Manchester United’s first four-game winning streak in the league since February 2024. United now sit fourth in the Premier League table with 44 points, just three behind third-placed Aston Villa.

Reflecting on the performance, Carrick said:
“The first goal is normally vital, to get ahead, but it’s encouraging to see the expression and attacking play from the team.”

For Tottenham, the result compounded an inconsistent and disappointing league campaign. They currently sit 15th with 29 points, struggling to find momentum.

There is renewed optimism in the red half of Manchester following this impressive run of results. However, fans will be hoping that the team can maintain this momentum as the season progresses.
