The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced new charges for Ghana Card services across the country.
In an official notice issued by the Authority, the NIA said the new fees were approved by Parliament under the Fees and Charges (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations and will take effect from February 2, 2026. Under the revised pricing, first time registration for adults aged 25 years and above will now cost GH₵30.
However, registration remains free for persons under 25 years.
The NIA also announced that replacement of a lost or damaged Ghana Card will now cost GH₵200, while card renewal will cost GH₵150. Individuals who want to transfer their details from one NIA office to another will pay GH₵75.
For foreign nationals, the fees will be charged in US dollar equivalents, depending on the service requested.
According to the NIA, the adjustment is necessary to reflect the actual cost of providing identification services, including technology maintenance, logistics and system security.
The Authority noted that this is the first major review of Ghana Card fees since 2023.
The NIA has advised the public to make payments only at approved centres and to avoid dealing with middlemen or unauthorised agents.
