Ghana Card Services Increase as NIA Reviews Fees Nationwide

Ghanaians will now pay higher fees for selected Ghana Card services following a nationwide review of charges by the National Identification Authority (NIA).

The adjustment was announced by the NIA in an official statement issued in Accra, explaining that the revised fees affect a range of services linked to the issuance and maintenance of the national identity card.

According to the Authority, the new charges apply to premium registration services, replacement of lost or damaged Ghana Cards, correction of personal information, change of nationality status and registration of Non Ghanaians.

The NIA said the decision was taken after careful consideration of rising operational costs and the need to maintain efficient service delivery across its offices nationwide.

The Authority noted that the Ghana Card system requires sustained investment to ensure reliability, security and timely service for the public.

In the statement, the NIA emphasized that the fee review is part of broader efforts to strengthen the national identification system, which plays a critical role in accessing public services, financial transactions and national security processes.

The Authority further appealed to members of the public to cooperate with staff at registration centres as the new fees take effect, assuring Ghanaians that measures are being implemented to improve service delivery and reduce delays.
