The United States Embassy in Accra has increased the number of available non-immigrant visa interview appointments by several thousand, with a significant portion of the slots accessible right away, as it responds to heightened demand for travel to the U.S.
According to the Embassy, the decision to add more appointment dates is aimed at easing pressure on applicants, particularly with global attention turning toward large-scale events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Embassy confirmed that it remains fully engaged in processing non-immigrant visa requests and advised individuals who currently do not hold valid U.S. visas to begin their applications well in advance.
It further advised Ghanaians hoping to attend the 2026 World Cup in the United States to avoid delaying their applications, stressing that early submission improves the chances of securing interview slots and completing the process on time.
The public was also reminded to apply strictly through the official U.S. visa booking platform, as the Embassy continues efforts to combat fraud and discourage the use of unauthorised middlemen.
