The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, on Wednesday January 21, 2026, has announced the government’s intention to assist the private sector in establishing three large garment factories as a way to increase industrial growth and create more jobs.
In an address at the Government Accountability Series in Accra she announced that the garment factory is expected to employ 27,000 people.
“The government is going to support the private sector to establish three big garment factories, and we seek to employ 27,000 people in the long run with these garment factories,” she said.
According to the minister, the initiative will provide employment opportunities for Ghanaians and strengthen the country’s industrial base, emphasizing government support for the private sector as central to its economic growth strategy.
She noted that the garment factory initiative is a beautiful opportunity, as it takes less time to learn.
