The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has announced the suspension of its planned strike action after the government responded to the association’s concerns.
In a statement signed on Tuesday by the National President of JUSAG, Mr. Samuel Afotey Otu, the association indicated: “The planned strike has been suspended pending implementation of the payment plan by government.”
According to the statement, the decision follows government engagement after JUSAG declared its intention to commence an indefinite strike on Monday, January 19, 2026, in protest against the non-payment of eight months’ salary arrears owed to its members.
The statement further urged members of the Judicial Service to resume work while the association observes the execution of the agreed measures, noting: “Staff of the Judicial Service are, therefore, admonished to attend to their normal duties as we monitor progress of implementation.”
JUSAG had earlier communicated its decision to embark on a nationwide indefinite strike effective January 19, 2026.
Subsequently, the National Labour Commission intervened by inviting the Judicial Service and the Ministry of Finance to appear before it to address the matters under dispute.
