The Ghana Education Service (GES) has declared Friday, January 23, 2026, as a National Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Day for teachers across the country.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, January 15, GES said the move is aimed at strengthening teaching quality by supporting the continuous professional development of educators nationwide.
According to the Service, the designated CPD Day will allow teachers to take part in Phase Two of the Cybersecurity and Data Protection training programme, with the necessary institutional support and without interruptions.

To ensure full participation by teachers, GES has also declared the same date a holiday for learners, allowing schools to suspend instructional activities for the day.
GES management has directed all Regional Directors of Education to communicate the directive to Metro, Municipal and District Directors of Education, as well as Heads of Basic Schools and Second Cycle Institutions, and ensure full compliance.
The Service noted that the initiative underscores the importance of continuous professional development in building the capacity of teachers and improving the overall quality of education in Ghana.
