The Research, Education,Aid in Christ (REACH) Foundation, a United States-based non-profit organisation, including three US-based medical doctors, have visited the office of Vice Chancellor, ahead of a week-long medical outreach. The Director of the University Health Services(UHS), Dr. Nana Kwame Ayisi-Boateng,led the REACH Foundation delegation to the Vice-Chancellor.
Dr. Ayisi-Boateng recounted his outfits relationship with the Foundation last year. He expressed the UHS’s appreciation for the donation of a container of medical supplies, including Intensive Care Unit(ICU) beds,infant warmers,patient monitors among others.

According to the Hospital Director, the Foundation is going to perform free minimally invasive surgeries and will donate medical equipment worth two hundred and fifty thousand, United States dollars ($250,000) to the KNUST Hospital. Dr. Ayisi-Boateng added that the visiting specialists are not only offering free minimally invasive surgeries but will also be transferring valuable knowledge and skills to local doctors.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, commended the REACH team for their generosity, dedication, and long-term vision. “You are not only enhancing our healthcare delivery and providing high-quality medical services, but you are also strengthening our health infrastructure and enriching the skills of our professionals,” she remarked.

She stressed that the initiative will benefit communities far beyond the university environment. “We are surrounded by more than 20 communities that rely on the University Hospital as their primary point of care,” she said. “The infrastructure, training, and services you are offering will leave a lasting impact on these communities.”
Dr. Kofi Asare Bawuah, President of the REACH Foundation and an alumnus of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, emphasized the organisation’s commitment to a sustained collaboration despite being only two years old. “This marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between us, the University Hospital. He further disclosed that the donation includes a fully equipped laparoscopic tower with two laparoscopes and mentioned that additional needs have been identified after touring various departments.
