Vice Chancellor Urges Continued Mentorship and Industry Support as KEEP Advisory Board Visits KNUST

The Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has called for stronger mentorship and continued industry collaboration as it hosted members of the Industry and Scientific Advisory Board of the KNUST Engineering Education Project (KEEP) during a courtesy call at the Council Chamber.

The visit, which preceded the board’s scheduled meeting, created a platform for members to update university leadership on the project’s progress and explore avenues for deeper cooperation to enhance engineering education.

Provost of the College of Engineering, Professor Kwabena Biritwum Nyarko, disclosed that a member of the advisory board has donated $20,000 to support KEEP’s ongoing activities. He added that the board deemed it important to meet the Vice-Chancellor and participate in the final session of the 59th Congregation before holding its formal meeting.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson expressed appreciation to the delegation for what she described as their unwavering commitment and strategic guidance.

“We hold in high regard the contributions you make to our students, our programmes, and the broader development of this institution,” she said.

Professor Dickson underscored the importance of leveraging alumni and advisory networks to drive excellence in engineering education and to equip graduates with industry-ready skills. She encouraged members to continue mentoring students and supporting curriculum enhancement to help KNUST achieve its ambition of producing globally competitive engineers.

“It is people like you, committed, generous and visionary who make it possible for our students to dream bigger and reach higher,” she added.
