The Institute of Distance Learning (IDL) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) strengthened its partnership with the National Water Institute at the University of Abomey-Calavi in Benin this year. The Director of the Institute, Professor Anthony Andrews, made this known in his address at the 59th Congregation ceremony at KNUST, Kumasi.
Professor Andrews said the two institutions collaborated on projects in water, sanitation, including digital manuals, training, and e-learning best-practice exchanges to build capacity and drive innovation.
In a related development, he commended the 2017/2018 alumni group of the IDL Nigeria Nurses for donating several fans to the Institute to equip the McCarthy Hills Centre.
He advised to surmount obstacles and to see barriers as invitations to be creative.
“When the classroom was not at your doorstep, you brought the learning to wherever you were. When traditional methods did not fit your life, you adapted. Carry this mind-set forward in your careers and lives ahead.” He also encouraged the graduands to join a local chapter of the KNUST Alumni.
The Motivational Speaker, Dr. James Aditchere, of the Centre for Applied Research into Logistics and Innovation, commended faculty for transforming lives through quality education. Use their education to impact lives in their communities and homes.

This year, the Institute presented a total of 2,679 graduands at the 59th Congregation ceremony. This cohort comprises 1,408 males (52.56%) and 1,271 females (47.44%).
In terms of academic performance, 217 students (8.10%) achieved First Class honours, while 1,006 (37.55%) obtained Second Class honours (Upper Division). A further 1,089 (40.65%) earned Second Class honours (Lower Division), and 343 (12.80%) graduated with a Pass. Additionally, 24 of the Diploma students
