The Future Is Now; Embrace AI or Be Left Behind” — Inspire Conference Challenges KNUST Students

Students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have been urged to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI), coding, and emerging technologies as key tools for future career success. This charge was given at the Inspire Conference organized by Alice Talk World, held at the Engineering Block of the university.

The event brought together students, lecturers, and technology experts under the theme of preparing youth for the evolving world of work. Delivering the keynote address, CEO of Global Capacity Hub in the UK, Mr. Stephen Ato Forson,  emphasized that the future is already here  and those who fail to adapt will be left behind.

“AI literacy, coding, and data analytics are now must-have skills,” he stated. “The workforce of tomorrow will require multi-disciplinary knowledge.

A civil engineer, for example, may need to understand how to operate AI systems, it’s no longer optional.” Mr. Forson also revealed his own involvement in integrating technology into politics, sharing that he once developed a chatbot for a Ghanaian presidential candidate.

Throughout his address, he encouraged students to be confident, energetic, and innovative in whatever field they choose. “Don’t just follow the old ways.

Bring in fresh vibes and creative ideas to solve new problems,” he added. The event began with a welcome message from the President of the Ghana Engineering Students Association (GESA), who encouraged peers to remain open-minded and curious.

Also in attendance was the SRC President, Kane Nana Francis, as well as faculty members from the College of Engineering. The program concluded with a renewed call for students to step boldly into the future and invest in skills that will keep them relevant in a fast-changing world.
