The Director General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Mr. Felix Gyamfi, has revealed that plans are underway to increase the monthly allowances of National Service Personnel, but this could hinge on greater private sector involvement. Addressing students at the Pre-National Service Orientation held at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Mr. Gyamfi emphasized that a shift in deployment strategy could ease the financial burden on government and pave the way for improved welfare for personnel.
“We are looking to post more graduates to private institutions,” he said. “This would allow government to focus on fewer people financially and enable us to increase the allowances on our payroll.” He explained that the Authority is actively engaging with private organizations to absorb more service personnel, an approach that also creates job exposure beyond the public sector.
Mr. Gyamfi added that the leadership of the NSA is committed to enhancing the experience of national service and will continue to advocate for better conditions for graduates during their one-year mandatory service. The National Service Scheme continues to evolve as stakeholders call for innovative solutions to funding constraints and the need for skills development in both public and private sectors.
