KNUST Students Advised to Take Advantage of Available Resources for Exam Success

Students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have been advised to make use of the available academic and counseling resources as the university prepares for its end-of-first-semester examinations. Speaking on the Good Morning KNUST show on Focus FM, Examinations Officer for the Department of Languages and Communication Sciences, Dr. Obed Nii Broohm, highlighted the support systems in place to help students.

He encouraged them to seek academic assistance from teaching assistants and lecturers. “Teaching assistants are available during this time since there are no ongoing lectures.

Students can approach them for clarifications on any subject matter. Moreover, lecturers themselves are accessible, and students should not hesitate to seek further explanations if they encounter academic challenges,” he said.

He urged students to prepare well and follow examination rules to avoid serious consequences. Beyond academic resources, Dr. Broohm stressed the importance of mental and emotional well-being during exams.

He reminded students of the university’s Counseling Center, which has representatives in every college to provide professional support. “Exams can be stressful, and sometimes unexpected events like emotional breakdowns or personal challenges can interfere with preparation.

If any student experiences anxiety, heartbreak, or other psychological challenges, they should reach out to the counseling professionals available in their respective colleges,” he added. He advised students to stay focused and avoid distractions from social media and non-beneficial phone conversations.

He warned against procrastination and encouraged students to prioritize their studies. “This is not the time to be on Snapchat, TikTok, or unnecessary phone calls.

If you score anything lower than 40, you will receive an ‘F,’ which means you will have to rewrite the exam. Avoid distractions and study hard.

With determination and God’s help, you will succeed,” he emphasized.
