The Directorate of Student Affairs (DoSA) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) celebrated its inaugural DoSA Day at the Great Hall on campus, under the theme “Advancing Sustainable Student Well-Being: The Collaborative Role of Stakeholders.” The event aimed to highlight the Directorate’s ongoing projects and initiatives designed to enhance student support and well-being.
In an exclusive interview, Chairperson of the Planning Committee, Prof. James Osei Mensah, emphasized the significance of the DoSA Day celebration. He stated that the event is not just a celebration; it’s a platform to showcase the vital activities and projects undertaken by the Directorate of Student Affairs.
He also mentioned that DoSA is committed to ensuring that every student receives the maximum support they need to thrive academically and personally. The event served as a launchpad for several key initiatives aimed at improving student life, including:
DoSA KNUST Off-Campus Student Accommodation Support System (KOSASS) App: A digital solution to assist students in finding safe and affordable housing options off-campus.
DoSA Operational Manual: A comprehensive guide outlining the services and support available to students.
DoSA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Established protocols to streamline student services and enhance efficiency.
DoSA Newsletter: A regular publication to keep students informed about upcoming events, resources, and opportunities.
DoSA Hygiene Essentials Bank: A resource providing essential hygiene products to students in need, available for both male and female students.
Prof. Mensah announced that DoSA Day will become an annual event, with each edition showcasing new projects and initiatives aimed at fostering a supportive environment for students. “We want to create a culture of collaboration among all stakeholders in student affairs.
This is just the beginning,” he added. He urged students to take advantage of the resources available through the Directorate, stating, “Don’t hesitate to reach out to us for assistance.
We are here to support you in your academic journey and beyond.” The DoSA Day celebration marks a significant step towards enhancing student engagement and well-being at KNUST, setting a precedent for future initiatives aimed at creating a more supportive and inclusive campus environment.
