KNUST Launches Staff Excellence Awards; Mamponghene Endorses Initiative

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is set to recognize outstanding staff members through the newly introduced Special Excellence Awards Scheme; the Mamponghene, Daasebre Nana Osei Bonsu II, has thrown his support behind the initiative. A delegation from the university, led by the Deputy Registrar of the College of Art and Built Environment (CABE), Mr. Anthony Adjapong, paid a courtesy call on the Mamponghene to formally introduce the awards and seek his approval.

The scheme, established by KNUST’s Registrar, Mr. Andrews Kwasi Boateng, aims to reward creativity, leadership, and dedicated service among staff members in the Registrar’s Offices. The awards will be named in honor of distinguished personalities, including Daasebre Nana Osei Bonsu II for Leadership, Sophia Quashie-Sam for Service, and Kobby Yebo-Okrah for Creativity and Innovation.

The maiden edition is scheduled to take place on June 13, 2025. Commending the initiative, Daasebre Nana Osei Bonsu II praised the Registrar for his visionary leadership and commitment to improving the university’s administrative framework.

He pledged his full support for the success of the awards. The meeting was attended by key university officials, including former Deputy Registrar Mr. Solomon Panford, Assistant Registrar Mr. Emmanuel Kwasi Debrah, Junior Assistant Registrars Mr. Gibridu Oppong and Mr. Isaac Nyamekye Yamoah.
