KNUST Welcomes Over 26,000 Freshmen; Vice-Chancellor Urges Students to Strive for Excellence

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has officially inducted over 26,000 newly admitted students into its academic community through a virtual matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic year. Speaking at the event, Vice-Chancellor Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson revealed that out of 92,975 applications received, 50,895 students gained admission, comprising 11,084 postgraduates and 39,811 undergraduates.

However, only 26,612 students successfully registered. Professor Dickson emphasized the importance of matriculation as a tradition that formally integrates students into the university system, urging them to utilize student support services, including the Directorate of Students Affairs and the KNUST Counselling Centre.

She assured students of the university’s commitment to ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment. “The journey ahead will not always be easy,” she cautioned.

“There will be challenges, sleepless nights, and deadlines to meet. But remember, you are here because we believe in your potential.

With determination, hard work, and the right mindset, success is inevitable.” The ceremony also saw the Registrar, Mr. Andrews Kwasi Boateng, administering the matriculation oath, marking the official commencement of the students’ academic journey at KNUST.
