Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, has announced the rollout of new chip-embedded passports aimed at strengthening security measures and protecting Ghanaians from identity theft, document tampering, and unauthorized access to personal biodata. The new passports represent an upgrade from the existing biometric versions, integrating advanced technology to ensure greater reliability and security for citizens.
Speaking on the innovation, the minister emphasized the government’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of Ghanaian travel documents while ensuring global compliance with international standards. These enhanced features not only offer additional protection but also mark a significant milestone in modernizing Ghana’s passport systems for global competitiveness.
