Former Auditor General of Ghana, Prof Daniel Domelovor has urged some selected media houses not to accept EC’s offer of covering the upcoming elections. He said this during a programme organised by Mr Emmanuel Wilson Jnr on the topic, ‘The scarface of corruption in Ghana’ at KNUST, Kumasi on the 27th of November, 2024.
The program is of the vision to, if not eradicate, suppress the corruption level in the country by mobilising the youth, journalists and individuals who share in the same hope of making Ghana a corruption free country to add their voices in the fight against corruption. At the meeting, Prof Gyampo touched on his disinterest about the EC’s decision to choose some selected few journalists.
He then acknowledged the people on steps he himself has put in place to make sure the action is not executed. According to Professor Gyampo, he happens to have a healthy relationship with the Electoral Commission Chair, Mrs Jean Mensah and that he has issued an appeal to her in order for the E.C to rethink their decision on exempting some media houses from the election coverage.
The former auditor in this regard made a plea to the gathering and all other media houses in Ghana to come together and fight this discrimination and inequality on the side of electoral commission in standing for a better Ghana and press freedom.
