Teamwork in Corruption Fight; Domelovo Urges National Unity

Former Auditor-General, Prof. Daniel Yaw Domelovo, has called for a united front in combating corruption, emphasizing teamwork as essential for success. Speaking on Wednesday, November 27, at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Domelovo lamented the self-centeredness of many Ghanaians in addressing corruption.

The program, held at the School of Business Block B, featured notable speakers, including Prof. Ransford Gyampo, President of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG); Prof. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; and Dr. Lord J.J. Gowans. Prof. Domelovo criticized the tendency of individuals to protect corrupt persons due to political alignment or personal benefits.

Citing Martin Luther, he stated, “I don’t want peace if it means keeping my mouth shut in the face of evil and corruption.” He stressed that the fight against corruption requires national unity and a collective commitment to uphold the rule of law, asserting, “Corruption is not a moral fight; it is a state fight.”

The event, themed “The Scarface of Corruption in Ghana,” explored strategies for addressing corruption in the country and highlighted the need for collaboration at all levels.
