Seven Doctors Inducted as Specialists; KNUST Hospital Celebrates Historic Feat

Seven doctors from the University Hospital at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have been inducted as Members of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons during a prestigious ceremony held in Accra. This milestone aligns with the hospital’s mission to deliver top-tier, patient-centered care through highly trained health professionals.

Of the seven specialists, five are permanent staff at the hospital, while two completed their postgraduate training there. The newly qualified specialists include Dr. Eric Kojo Nsa Oduro and Dr. Vitalis Saadaare, both in Family Medicine, and Dr. Francis Kobina Baidoo, specializing in General Surgery.

Others are Dr. Raymond Addo-Tham in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr. Phillip Frimpong in Oral Pathology, Dr. (Mrs.) Betty Nkansah Osei-Mensah in Paediatrics, and Dr. (Mrs.) Brenda Abena Ampah in Radiology. The Director of University Health Services, Dr. Nana Kwame Ayisi-Boateng, lauded this achievement, describing it as the largest number of specialists produced by the hospital in a single year.

He also acknowledged his predecessor, Dr. Osei Kwaku Wusu-Ansah, for championing the hospital’s accreditation for postgraduate training in Family Medicine, General Surgery, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This accomplishment underscores the hospital’s commitment to fostering excellence and elevating healthcare delivery in Ghana.
