Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed that the Digital Youth Hub (DYH) currently under construction at the University of Ghana will be completed and inaugurated by December 2024. The hub, part of Ghana’s agenda to accelerate digitalisation, is aimed at empowering young tech entrepreneurs with the resources and space to launch startups and build sustainable businesses.
Following the completion of the University of Ghana’s DYH, similar hubs will be constructed at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the University of Cape Coast (UCC), and the University for Development Studies (UDS). This initiative, under the Ghana CARES program, is a collaboration between the University of Ghana, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation.
During an inspection of the project on October 8, 2024, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the significant role the DYH plays in equipping Ghanaian youth with the skills needed for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and contributing to economic growth. The hub is expected to attract investors and foster the development of tech entrepreneurs across the country.
