KNUST Hosts International Process Optimization Challenge; Focus on Logistics Efficiency and Youth Employment

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is hosting the International Process Optimization Challenge as part of the DigiLog project, an initiative aimed at promoting global collaboration in process management and digitization. The challenge brings together students from various countries, including Ghana, Tunisia, and Germany, to work in teams and solve real-world logistical challenges presented by local companies.

Project coordinator, Dr. Alireza Ansera, highlighted the project’s focus on enhancing sustainability and efficiency in the logistics sector. “Our goal is to increase productivity by optimizing processes, which are central to improving the efficiency of any industry.

Particularly in Ghana, there is great potential for improvement in logistics,” he said. The project leader in Ghana, Dr. Samuel Akomea, emphasized the opportunities for self-employment through partnerships with local companies like Boris B Farms.

He explained that the challenge helps students engage with companies by offering solutions while also creating avenues for employment without needing capital. Participating companies include Boris B Farms, Veterinary Supplies Ghana Limited, Thinket Company Limited, M and M Delivery Services, and AppNet Consult Limited.

Through collaboration, the project aims to empower students with the tools needed to contribute meaningfully to industry optimization and entrepreneurship in Ghana.
