CBG Reaffirms Commitment to KNUST; Donates 50 Laptops to Vice-Chancellor’s SONSOL Project

The Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG) has once again demonstrated its unwavering support for education by donating fifty brand-new HP laptops to the “Support One Needy Student with One Laptop (SONSOL) Project” at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The donation ceremony took place on Monday, 19th August 2024, at the University’s Council Chamber, marking the fourth year of CBG’s annual contribution to the initiative.

Representing the Bank, Director of Retail and Business at CBG, Mr. Emmanuel Nikoi, handed over the laptops to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson. He reiterated CBG’s commitment, established four years ago, to consistently support brilliant but financially disadvantaged students at KNUST through this annual donation.

Mr. Nikoi praised the strong partnership between CBG and KNUST and extended congratulations to Professor Dickson on her reappointment as Vice-Chancellor. He assured her of CBG’s continued support for her leadership and the University’s future endeavors.

In response, Professor (Mrs.) Dickson expressed deep gratitude to CBG for their consistent generosity. She emphasized the critical role of technology in modern education, particularly for a leading institution like KNUST, and noted that the SONSOL Project is essential for ensuring that all students, regardless of financial background, have access to the necessary resources to succeed.

She assured that the laptops would be allocated to students who genuinely need them, reaffirming the University’s commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity. Professor Dickson also looked forward to future collaborations with CBG, recognizing the Bank’s ongoing support as a key factor in advancing KNUST’s mission to provide quality education to all its students.
