KNUST Vice-Chancellor Institutes Student Appreciation Day; Celebrates Excellence with VCSEA

The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has established a new tradition: the Vice-Chancellor’s Students’ Excellence Awards (VCSEA). This initiative, also known as Student Appreciation Day, is designed to recognize students who have excelled in various aspects of student life at KNUST.

The second edition of these awards will honor achievements from 2023 to 2024. Under the theme “Celebrating Achievements Beyond Boundaries: Recognizing Students’ Excellence,” the VCSEA aims to:

  • Acknowledge and promote student academic excellence
  • Provide formal recognition of student achievements
  • Increase visibility of student excellence and motivate other students to perform better, thereby raising standards of excellence and achievement

The awards will celebrate students who have demonstrated leadership, academic excellence, equity, diversity, and inclusion in various areas, including:

  • Student Leadership
  • Academic Excellence
  • College Activities
  • Debate
  • Cadet
  • Peer Counselling
  • Sports
  • Innovations and Patents
  • Entrepreneurship with Measurable Outcomes
  • Volunteerism
  • Creative Arts
  • All Rounded Exemplary Students
  • Special Awards
  • Media

To be eligible, students or teams must:

  • Be currently enrolled as full-time or part-time students at KNUST between 2022 and 2024
  • Be in good standing, meaning free from any investigation, query, suspension, or disciplinary action, and have paid fees in full
  • Agree to be nominated and provide evidence to support their nomination

Nominations are only valid for the year submitted and must be based on achievements between 2022 to 2024. While individuals cannot be nominated for multiple awards in a single category, the awards selection committee may reassign a nomination to a different category with the nominee’s agreement if it better fits the evidence provided.

The VCSEA seeks to highlight the achievements of KNUST students and inspire others to strive for excellence, fostering a culture of high achievement and recognition within the university community.
