In an intense battle of creativity, KNUST SHS, Prempeh College, Yaa Asantewaa Girls, and Osei Tutu SHS competed for the title of the best school in poetry in the Ashanti region. After weeks of competition among seventeen schools, the final round of the ACE Spoken Word competition took place in Kumasi.
The event, organized by the American Corner Kumasi of the US Embassy and ACE Consult, provided a platform for students to showcase their public speaking and poetic talents. The opening round featured poems about Ghana’s upcoming elections, emphasizing peacebuilding and national cohesion.
KNUST SHS led after the first round, with Prempeh College making a strong showing in the second round through general knowledge questions. However, KNUST SHS clinched the title with their outstanding on-the-spot poetry, impressing judges and the audience alike.
Prempeh College took second place, with Osei Tutu SHS and Yaa Asantewaa Girls finishing third and fourth, respectively. The Executive Director of American Corner Kumasi and ACE Consult, Marilyn Owusu, praised the students’ creativity and potential.
Participants noted the competition’s positive impact on their skills, expressing confidence in their future endeavors.
