KNUST Pro Vice-Chancellor Donates $10,000 to GRASAG Research Fund

The esteemed Pro Vice-Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo, has demonstrated his commitment to academic excellence by presenting a generous donation of ten thousand United States dollars (US$10,000) to the GRASAG President, Mr. Felix Adusei. The donation, made on April 10, 2024, fulfills Professor Owusu-Dabo’s pledge to support the GRASAG Research Fund (GReF) following its inauguration.

The GRASAG Research Fund (GReF) has been established with the primary aim of enhancing research endeavors among graduate students. At its core, the fund encompasses two essential initiatives: the GRASAG Research Support Hub and the GRASAG Research Support Grant.

Beyond providing financial assistance, these initiatives offer mentorship and technical guidance to aspiring researchers. Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo, in endorsing this initiative, lauded the concept of establishing a fund dedicated to supporting the research activities of graduate students.

He emphasized the alignment of this initiative with KNUST’s mission as a research-driven institution and expressed optimism for implementing effective strategies to attract increased donations from industry stakeholders and esteemed alumni. In response to Professor Owusu-Dabo’s generous contribution, Mr. Felix Kofi Adusei, President of GRASAG-KNUST, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Pro Vice-Chancellor’s invaluable support in establishing the GReF.

He extended an appeal to other organizations, independent entities, and alumni to consider contributing to the fund, emphasizing its critical role in advancing research pursuits among graduate students. The donation from Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo serves as a beacon of encouragement for aspiring researchers and underscores the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of academic excellence and innovation.
