The National Service Scheme (NSS) has taken steps to address outstanding arrears by disbursing service personnel allowances for January 2024. According to a press release issued on Friday, April 5, and signed by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Armstrong Essah, the NSS ensured that eligible personnel received their payments through E-Zwich at their respective banks nationwide.
Acknowledging the patience of service personnel during the delay, the NSS expressed gratitude and assured all personnel that allowances for February and March 2024 have been processed. These payments are expected to be disbursed promptly.
This announcement comes amid concerns raised by service personnel over the delayed allowances, which serve as their primary source of income. Previously, there were indications of potential strike action to demand the timely disbursement of allowances.
With three out of the five outstanding months now addressed, service personnel can anticipate the forthcoming payments, ensuring financial stability during their service period.
