Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, Ghana’s former Chief Justice, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the newly inaugurated Governing Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. The appointment follows the end of the tenure of the Omanhene of the Bompata Traditional Area, Nana Effah Appenteng, as Chair, who served until 2023.
Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah was the 14th Chief Justice of Ghana and has played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s legal landscape. Before his tenure as Chief Justice, he served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana and had a distinguished career as a private legal practitioner.
The Governing Council, under Justice Anin-Yeboah’s leadership, comprises distinguished individuals in their respective fields. Among them are Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST; Mr. Kofi Karikari; Dr. Abena Oforiwaa Ampomah; and Professor Ernest Owusu Dapaa, all serving as government nominees.
Additionally, the council includes Professor Samuel Asare-Nkansah, representing the professorial cadre, and Professor Eric K. K. Abavare, representing UTAG. Other members include Dr. Daniel Opoku, the Non-Professorial Representative; Mr. Abubakr Zakaria; Mr. Michael Ayuune, representing TEWU-TUC; Mr. Mark Kakraba-Ampeh, representing GTEC; Mr. Kofi Adusei, GRASAG President; Miss Yvonne Adobea, SRC President; Mr. Andrews Kwasi Boateng, serving as Registrar and Secretary to the Council; Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Mr. Suleimana Zachariah Yeboah, representing CHASS; and Mr. Johnson Owusu, acting Financial Officer.
