In a significant move towards fostering transparency and strategic project execution, the YVONNE_ NKAY-led KNUST SRC administration unveiled its plans for the 2023/2024 fiscal year during the budget reading on March 3, 2024. The highlight of the budget announcement was the establishment of a five-member ad hoc committee tasked with drafting a comprehensive policy document.
The SRC Financial Secretary, Master Kelvin Oheneaku, emphasized the committee’s crucial role in collaborating closely with the university’s Office of Physical Development, Procurement Office, stakeholders, and the dynamic student community. Their collective objective is to ensure that every project undertaken is not only subjected to due diligence and cost efficiency but also delivers on its promise of capacity building and tangible benefits for students.
Beyond the drafting of the policy document, the committee will play a pivotal role in overseeing the proper utilization of funds for costed projects. Their responsibilities extend to ensuring transparency at every stage of the project life cycle and fostering a culture of accountability within the SRC.
This renewed emphasis on accountability and strategic investment aims to empower the SRC to dream big and, more importantly, actualize those dreams in the most effective, efficient, and impactful manner.
