Ghanaian sprinter Joseph Paul Amoah, renowned for his speed and achievements, has officially declared his participation in the upcoming 2023 African Games set to take place in Accra from March 8 to March 23, 2024. As the 2022 Commonwealth Games 200m bronze medalist and former record holder in the event, Amoah is considered one of Ghana’s most promising athletes for securing a medal in the track events.
Notably, he played a crucial role in anchoring Ghana to a gold medal in the men’s 4x100m relays at the 2019 African Games in Rabat. The 27-year-old athlete, who is a former student of Prempeh College, faced a setback at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest due to a toe injury that disrupted his 200-meter race.
This injury forced him to sit out for the remainder of the previous year, focusing on a gradual return to full fitness. Amoah’s return to competitive sports is anticipated to bring a significant boost to Team Ghana.
Beyond his individual pursuits, he is expected to play a pivotal role as the anchor in the men’s relay team, aiming to defend their title from their triumph five years ago. Ghanaian sports enthusiasts eagerly await Joseph Paul Amoah’s stellar performance at the 2023 African Games, anticipating moments of sprinting brilliance and the prospect of medal glory in the track events.
