A political historian, Professor Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, has said that political parties should be involved in local elections since it will motivate people to participate in them.
His suggestion is premised on the fact that political parties have long been a shadow of the District Assembly elections.
He made this known during an interview on Focus FM’s Teknokrat show with Audrey Sika Dzifa on Monday evening.
“The District Assembly elections should become partisan elections because that will encourage people to invest in and participate in them,” he said.
Professor Samuel added that rather than concentrating on major cities, the government and Members of Parliament should assist the local assembly members in developing their communities since they all contribute to the nation’s development.
